Reviewing 421,466 medical records of people who made suicidal drug overdoses, researchers found that opioids and barbiturates had the highest risk of lethality. Since youth tend to be impulsive, one way of decreasing the chances of their overdosing with drugs is to make it more difficult to take many by using bister packs. Parents are also cautioned to lock up drugs that have proven lethality. This is especially true if they have a child with depression.
